105-1 | Synthesis and medical applications of biopolymers based on bacterial cellulose | Authors: | Lustri, W.R. (UNIARA - Laboratório de Química Medicinal e Medicina Regenerativa) |
Abstract Bacterial cellulose (BC) produced and polymers based on this biomaterial, has been much emphasis in recent years, with the highlight cellulose produced by bacteria of the genus Gluconacetobacter, because microorganisms are able to produce on a commercial scale cellulose and lignin and hemicellulose free. During the last decades there was an increased interest in exploring with biopolymers function of bioactive media including BC resulting in interest in exploring the mechanisms of production optimization. This interest is due to unique nanostructure and physical properties of BC constitutes a candidate for numerous regenerative medicine applications, and as featured for use as scaffold in tissue, temporary skin substitute for the treatment of wounds and tissue regeneration and organ engineering, delivery systems sustained drug, replacement of blood vessels of small caliber, among others.
